Home Economics Overview

Home economics subjects support students to develop the capacity to make decisions, solve problems and develop critical and creative responses to practical concerns of individuals, families and communities in the local and global context. Where Home Economics is offered as a subject, or home economics related subject elements of learning will be drawn from content in both Health and Physical Education (HPE) and Technologies in the Australian Curriculum. 

At Loxton High School Home Economics is offered from Year 8 to SACE Stage 2.  Students can be involved in subjects such as, Food and Textile Production, Creative Textiles, Independent Living, Food Specialisation, Child Studies and Food and Hospitality.



A World of Food

These books are part of an eight book series A World of Food, which explores the cuisine's of different countries around the world, with their distinctive ingredients, flavours and recipes.

Other countries & cuisines include - China & France

Located on the non fiction shelves at 394.1 - these books will be useful points of reference for research relating to specific countires, culture and food.
